Whats the cheapest way to get to Venice from Dallas?

As in, is there another route I should take to Europe, then take a train? I am interested in getting lost in the city (in a good way) to enjoy Venice alone. I just want to get there cheap…and any advice on hostels, or lodging would be even better.

Check fares from Dallas to London (any airport), then take EasyJet or Ryan Air to either Trieste’s Ronchi Airport or to Marco Polo (Venice Airport). From Trieste there is an inexpensive direct train. From Marco Polo you can take a bus.

You can also sometimes find good fares to Milan. From Milan you can take the train or a local flight.

For low-priced lodging and eats, I recommend you read travel books by Rick Steves and by Lonely Planet.

Venice is one of my favorite cities, and I am there at least three times a year. I envy you that you are going to see it for the first time! Go! Enjoy!
